Welcome to the Ontario Mentoring Coalition (OMC)! We are excited that you are visiting the website to learn more about the Ontario Mentoring Coalition.
The OMC consists of community agencies serving children and youth; corporate partners; government representatives and individuals. The Coalition is a network of agencies and individuals who are all looking to advance mentoring and create opportunities for children and youth to connect with the mentors that will help them reach their potential.
OMC partners are collaborating to establish and enhance mentoring programs and services in local communities. We’re helping build capacity by providing access to best practices and sound research supported by tools and resources that will help mentoring agencies start new programs or make existing programs even better.
To connect the children and youth of Ontario with a life-changing mentor, OMC has outlined the following objectives:
- Continue to increase capacity and sustainability of mentoring through promoting and supporting collaboration among community organizations, schools, government;
- Increase engagement of community partners in advancing the mission of the OMC; and,
- Increase the awareness of the importance of mentoring.
OMC aims to achieve these objectives by focusing on four key priority areas: Convening People/Agencies across Sectors; Building Knowledge and Capabilities; Building the Case for Mentoring and Raising Awareness.
Ultimately, OMC exists to help community mentoring programs meet the needs of the children and youth they serve.
We invite you to take the time and explore the site. More importantly if you are interested in becoming a member of the OMC we would encourage you to do so by completing the Application Form.
